Scope of work

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES ON MV/LV PLANT SUBSTATIONS ST16 - ST18 MANTOVA (SUBST. 14-35)

The design activities concerned the electrical installations related to the “STAY IN BUSINESS – 1st STEP” project, carried out within the Mantova (MN) plant.

The works involved MV/LV substations 14 and 35 for the upgrade of existing switchboards and/or installation of new ones to supply the new utilities planned in this initiative. In Substation 14, the existing 10 kV switchboard (QE10KV C.14) was modified to connect four new feeders made available for powering four existing transformers installed in Substation 35.

In Substation 35, the existing 10 kV switchboard (QE_10KV) was dismantled to make room for two new MCC panels, serving plants ST16 and ST18 respectively. A section of each new MCC was used for installing variable-speed motor drives designed for the ST16 and ST18 systems. The project also included upgrading the QE_04KV Power Center section in this substation.

Activities
Detailed engineering and on-site assistance during installation and commissioning.

Object

Replacement of obsolete Distributed Control Systems (DCS) with new-generation DCS systems;
Replacement of relay-based interlock systems with programmable safety logic systems;
Integration of new production and/or finishing units;
Expansion and modernization of MV/LV electrical substations.

Engineering was structured to enable implementation either in a single phase or in steps, minimizing plant downtime.
