The design documentation defined the characteristics and performance of the 6 kV starting system for two new compressors at Eni’s Rubicone Gas Plant. The main challenge addressed was starting two 2,700 kW motors each without inducing hazardous disturbances on the 15 kV utility distribution network (ENEL). In addition to electrical design, the construction design covered the 6 kV inverter enclosure and the auxiliary transformer enclosure.
